AFTER a one-year absence, the Bradford Amateur Rugby League cup finals return to the Provident Stadium tomorrow.

The main event, which adds to a tradition going back over 50 years at the iconic Odsal venue, is the Jack Senior Memorial Cup decider between West Bowling and Queensbury (3.30pm), while preceding it is the Hudson Trophy final between Queensbury A and Victoria Rangers A (1.30pm).

West Bowling already have three wins over Pennine League Premier Division rivals Queensbury this season, but the winning margins have reduced significantly as the campaign has progressed.

The second round of the Pennine President's Cup was a rousing affair that Bowling won 18-4 after a tremendous defensive arm wrestle but the half-time score was only 2-0.

It is a misconception that Bury are a struggling side, despite them languishing at the bottom of the table.

They have been within a whisker of winning games throughout the season but have not enjoyed that essential good luck.

Bowling have had a splendid season under Glenn Barraclough and deserve their plaudits as a young team destined for silverware for years to come.

They have selection problems most coaches would envy, with 21 players all hoping to collect a jersey.

They know only too well that Bury will have a burning desire to roll them over, and the key to who collects the coveted trophy will be settled by the half-backs.

Queensbury's Billy Naylor and Jonny Norman have developed into a very effective driving force, while Bowling’s Max Trueman and Ben Heald have also consistently shown they are a class act.

As far as the curtain-raiser goes, both Queensbury A and Victoria Rangers A have enjoyed successful seasons.

Queensbury’s second string have gained promotion from Division Three, while the Vics are still on song to move up from a strong Division Six West.

However, the divisional gulf between the sides will have little bearing on the outcome in what should be a perfect hor d'oeuvres to the main course.
