Amateur rugby league stalwart Alan ‘Big Al Spanner’ Spencer celebrates his 65th birthday and retirement at Birkenshaw Liberal Club on Saturday, November 2 (7.30pm).
Spencer played and coached at a number of clubs, including Dudley Hill, West Bowling, Clayton and Wyke. He also had a spell coaching the Birkenshaw Dragons ladies team.
The retirement event is a joint-celebration with former West Bowling and Horton player Ron Sharpe.
