West Bowling made light work of Hunslet Old Boys A to book a place in round two of the BARLA Yorkshire Cup.

Bowling were 24-0 up at half-time and never looked back, running out comfortable 54-4 winners.

Try-scorers were Max Trueman (2), Ethan Ryan (2), Liam Coe, Elliott Cousins, Chris Watson, Joe Lumb and Daniel Gregory.

Cousins also helped himself to five goals, while Coe added four conversions. Scrum half Trueman collected the man of the match award for a fine performance.

Bowling are joined in the second round by Bank Top Harriers, who dispatched Chequerfield Rangers in fine style 40-18.

Adam Mitchell took the man of the match honours after a superb kicking display, while Jason Gelder, Dan Oldfield and Cameron Nelson posted a brace of tries each.

In the Pennine League, Odsal Sedbergh went down 26-16 away to a strong Allerton Bywater side in Division One.

Despite their first defeat of the season, Sedge sit third and are still in touch with top two Brotherton Bulldogs and Allerton.

Luke Sellers, Chris Walsh and Alastair James were Sedbergh’s try-scorers on the day.

Wyke are still looking for that elusive first win after going down 36-16 at leaders Brotherton.

Full back Jimmy Wain scored a spectacular try and picked up the man of the match accolade.

Martin Dennison also claimed a super solo try and Wyke’s scoring was completed by Sam Redmonds, who touched down after a 40-metre run. Mick Wormald added two conversions.

West Bowling A avenged last year’s Pennine Supplementary Cup final defeat against Whinmoor by scoring the winning try in the dying seconds of an epic Division Four encounter.

With Whinmoor leading 36-32, it was left to Ben Heald to dive over for the all-important converted try that made the final score 38-36 to the hosts.

Other scorers for Bowling were the evergreen Nigel Halmshaw (2), veteran Glenn Barraclough, Callum Wilcock, Karl Spring and Adrian Doherty.

Halmshaw crowned a superb display with the man of the match prize.

Odsal Sedbergh A logged a resounding 46-24 win over Allerton Bywater in Division Seven.

Jonny Ward, Alex Jackson and Andy Gabriel led the way with two tries a piece and were ably supported by Ryan McNulty, Jake Smedley and Aidan Whiting, who all crossed as well.
