Queensbury have the chance to make it two wins on the bounce in the Pennine League Championship when they welcome table-toppers Methley Royals on Saturday.

The Leeds outfit were promoted as champions last term and, as new boys, are already making a statement with their unbeaten start to the season. Bury have home advantage though at Hilltop and plenty of experience.

Luke Cheney and Andrew Walker took the plaudits in last week's nail-biting win at Dewsbury Moor, while back-rowers Aaron Moore and Tom Ainsworth are also catching the eye.

In Championship One, Birkenshaw face another unbeaten side in Morley Borough. A win for Birky would see them join Morley in third place and keep them in sight of the top two.

Odsal Sedbergh travel to Allerton Bywater in Division One knowing that if things go their way they could be top of the pile come 4pm.

Victory on the road and a helping hand from neighbours Wyke at Brotherton Bulldogs will be needed, however, as well as another stand-out performance from the impressive Kaine McEwan. Sedge also have try-scoring ability in Ste Barnes and Luke Sellers.

Wyke are still looking for that all-important first victory but have a tough challenge. They could upset the formbook though, with Simon Owen and Mick Wormald unlikely to take a backward step.

Clayton have a local derby against Wibsey Warriors A and, while bragging rights are hugely important, two league points will be the real driver for coach John Parkinson as they look to ease themselves away from the foot of the table.

This weekend the BARLA National Cup gets underway, with West Bowling travelling to Hunslet Old Boys A for their first-round tie.

Bowling should have too much firepower for the Pennine League Division Three outfit, despite their leader's status.

West are coming off the back of an impressive win last week, and with Liam Coe in impressive try-scoring fashion, the Hunslet defence will have their hands full.

Bank Top Harriers are also in action and face a really difficult test when they welcome Chequerfield Rangers.

The Chequers play in the Yorkshire League Premier Division and will provide fierce opposition for a Harriers side facing their first outing this year.
