West Bowling are aiming to take another Premier Division scalp when they welcome Slaithwaite Saracens to Emsleys Rec in the third round of the Pennine Presidents Cup on Saturday.

Bowling, who gave Dewsbury Moor a roasting in the previous round, will find the Saracens a very different proposition.

The Huddersfield side are lying in fourth spot in the Pennine League top flight and are renowned for their direct approach through their huge pack.

Wests however have showed they are not fazed by any team’s reputation, which they clearly demonstrated in their Yorkshire County Cup run that took them to the semi-final stage.

They will be at full strength with the return of centre Adam Reardon, who has recovered from a shoulder injury.

Queensbury are at home to Premier Division high fliers Drighlington. Bury always give the Leeds side a close game and will still be licking their wounds following last week’s one point exit in the National Cup.

Birkenshaw are being tipped by many as the surprise package in the competition. Birky have hit form just at the right time and should prove too strong for visitors Ossett Trinity, who are struggling at the wrong end of the Championship.

Bank Top Harriers and Wibsey Warriors will once again attempt to get their opening round of the BARLA National Cup underway at Lidget Green, while Undercliffe Wildboars travel to Selby Warriors in the third round of the Andrew Bennett Trophy.

The Wildboars are forced to make a number of changes in the attempt to reach the quarter-finals, with Matt Garbutt, Josh Jepson, Paul Cross, Jake Butterworth and Christian Raftery all out injured.

However, Martin Brannan, Kaz Ahmed, Ryan Dixon and Danny Barok are more than capable additions.

Division Seven Queensbury B are also hunting Pennine Supplementary Cup glory when they entertain Division Six Rodley Rockets in the third round tie.

Wyke are back in Pennine League Division Two act-ion at Doncaster Toll Bar following their heavy defeat at the hands of Sharlston. The black and whites scrum half Aidy Doherty showed that he has the skills to test any opposition and loose forward Dean Smith is also back on form.

Odsal Sedbergh should make it a hat-trick of successive home wins when they host Division Three bottom club Wortley Dragons.
