Cougars boss Barry Eaton reckons Sunday's opponents Oldham could go all the way in National League Two.

Coached by former Keighley chief Steve Deakin and boosted by a raft of new signings, Oldham have ominously started to rise up the table, coming close to winning at leaders Featherstone Rovers last Sunday.

Eaton expects a tough battle for his side at Cougar Park and said: "They are very physical and very strong.

"Oldham are taking some stopping. I've seen their game at Fev and they were very, very unfortunate to lose.

"They were certainly the best side for 75 minutes but Fev have a never-say-die attitude and came to life in that last five.

"Oldham were down to 12 men and they got caught out wide but they will be really hard opposition at Cougar Park tomorrow."

The visitors have beaten Cougars to the chase for a number of transfer targets so far with former Leeds Rhinos centre Adam Hughes and former Bulls prop Anthony Tonks both heading to Boundary Park.

Eaton admitted: "They've just had another injury but signed Matty Brooks up straight away from Hull KR.

"I don't think Oldham are just going for promotion, I think they're really going for the title as well."

Eaton is likely to bring himself back on to the bench on Sunday after sitting out the last two games.

He has doubts surrounding centres Matt Foster and Mick Fogerty as well as winger Alex Brown and prop Simon Bissell but hopes at least two should be fit to play.

The Cougars, with just two wins so far, are looking to start picking up more bonus points having secured just a couple so far.

They are gained when a side loses by 12 points or less and Eaton said: "We've been in positions where we should have won more bonuses but ended up with nothing.

"Certainly Fev away, at Swinton last week and at York we could have got one.

"We've done well for large periods but not an entire 80 and that's why we've not got those bonuses. It's been a disappointing aspect of our season."
