CAMPION, Albion Sports and Thackley are all breathing down the neck of Silsden after Saturday’s Northern Counties East League Premier Division results.

The table-topping Cobbydalers were beaten 3-1 at West Yorkshire rivals Golcar United, with Campion going a point behind them after thumping Hallam 3-0.

Patrick Sykes was at the double for the Red and Blacks, scoring a bicycle kick just after half-time, while Marcus Day also netted.

Albion are only two points off the summit, with several games in hand, as Fernando Moke got the only goal in their 1-0 win at Knaresborough Town.

Thackley made it four wins in a row to move up to fifth. Luke Wilson shone in between the sticks for them, while goals from Edson Prata, Asa Mitchell and player-boss Tom Greaves sealed a 3-1 win victory over Penistone Church.

Zack Sangster’s goal was not enough for Eccleshill United, who slipped to fourth-bottom with a 2-1 home loss against Tadcaster Albion.

Bradford side Route One Rovers are up to fourth in the North West Counties Football League First Division North, their first campaign at semi-professional level.

The superb Anees Younis hit four for them on Saturday, as they obliterated Garstang 6-2.

But Steeton suffered a pasting themselves, losing 5-0 at leaders St Helens and dropping to 10th.

Liversedge suffered late pain in the Northern Premier League East Division as Dunston beat them 1-0 with a last-gasp goal.

Brighouse Town had a better afternoon, winning 2-1 against Newton Aycliffe thanks to goals from Mo Qasim and Jack Normanton.
