ROCK-bottom Liversedge will be seeking a much-needed, confidence-boosting win when they host one of their relegation rivals in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division on Saturday.

Sedge have been playing well, but a failure to take their chances means that they are propping up the table.

The weekend's visitors Armthorpe Welfare are third from bottom, and are above the trapdoor on goal difference only.

The recent bad weather has not helped Sedge’s cause as they have not played at home since the last day of October.

The visitors will feel they have a psychological advantage as they won the reverse fixture 5-1 in September, with former Bradford City man Ben Muirhead among Welfare’s five scorers.

Albion Sports host mid-table Garforth Town, who earned a 2-1 home win over Sedge in midweek.

On the same night, Albion progressed in the League Cup with a 4-3 win at Division One Teversal.

Kulwinder Sandhu’s side have been unpredictable this term, but they are a lofty sixth in the table, so will be strong favourites to register a home win following a defeat at Thackley last Saturday.

The Dennyboys earned another three points on Tuesday with a 6-3 win over Rainworth MW at Dennyfield to bank a fifth consecutive win in an eight-match unbeaten run in the league.

They face a tough test at fourth-placed Handsworth Parramore as their hosts are only three points off the summit and have games in hand on leaders Worksop Town.

Eccleshill United returned to winning ways in Division One in midweek with a 6-2 victory over mid-table rivals Yorkshire Amateur.

The Eagles face a sterner test next with a visit from high-flying Hull United.

If newcomers Hull were to win their games in hand, they would be just two points off the top two promotion places.
