THACKLEY and Liversedge moved their Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division derby from Boxing Day to tomorrow, and it may be the best decision the clubs have made.

The fixtures in the area on Saturday were decimated by the heavy rain that led to floods across the region.

Thackley’s Dennyfield would have been as unplayable as the pitches at Bradford Park Avenue, Guiseley, Farsley Celtic and Eccleshill United.

The Dennyboys wanted to reschedule the game because a lot of the other local clubs were at home but their games, along with Bradford City’s Sky Bet League One home fixture, were all washed out.

If tomorrow’s game does get the go ahead, Thackley will be looking for revenge after Sedge beat them 2-1 at Clayborn in the second game of the season.

Andy Wood got both of the goals for Sedge, while Craig Bentham netted for the Dennyboys.

Jon Rimmington’s side are now rock bottom, one point below the safety line, but they have got games in hand on all five clubs between them and Thackley.

Sedge would leap out of the relegation places with a win but would still be six points behind the Dennyboys.

On the other hand, a win would take Thackley closer to the mid-table respectability they are looking for after a very poor start to their campaign.

The shocking weather that led to all of the postponements hit NCE Division One Eccleshill United when their home derby with Leeds-based Yorkshire Amateur, which was scheduled for a 1pm kick-off, was called off after an early-morning pitch inspection.

Silsden were also denied a derby as their short trip into Lancashire to take on old rivals Barnoldswick Town in a North West Counties League Premier Division clash was also off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Both the Cobbydalers and the Eagles are due to be back in action on New Year's Day (Friday), with Silsden at home to Abbey Hey, while Eccleshill travel to Teversal.
