SILSDEN will be looking to take their dominance of the Hallmark Security League Division One into the fourth month of the season when the leaders host mid-table New Mills.

The Cobbydalers bid to maintain their 100 per cent start as they seek a 15th straight league victory. Danny Forrest’s men are eight points clear at the summit but, following their midweek reverse at AFC Blackpool in the Division One Cup, have exited three knockout competitions this term.

There are two big fixtures in Division One of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League with promotion hopefuls Eccleshill United and Campion both facing top-six rivals.

The Eagles face the toughest test as they host runaway leaders Knaresborough Town, who also have an eight-point cushion. Sean Regan’s men will be in good spirits, however, as they leapfrogged neighbours Campion into fourth place in midweek with a win at Armthorpe Welfare.

That leaves Campion in sixth place, just inside the play-off zone, as they travel to third-placed Grimsby Borough. Boro are looking for the win that could see them overhaul second-placed Yorkshire Amateur.

Thackley are the only one of the area’s three clubs in the top tier to have a home game as they host Athersley Recreation. The Dennyboys may have lost in midweek but they will still be buzzing after taking a full-strength FC Halifax Town side all the way in an entertaining West Riding County Cup second-round tie.

They were beaten 3-2 by their Vanarama National League neighbours but it was a positive performance and a great night at a busy Dennyfield.

Liversedge are immediately above 16th-placed Thackley, on goal difference only, but they will be hard pressed to stay ahead as they face a tough away game at eighth-placed Hemsworth MW.

Second-placed Handsworth Parramore are Albion Sports’ hosts as Kulwinder Sandhu’s men also have a difficult game. Eight places separate the Lions from their hosts but the points gap is double that with both clubs having played 17 games.
