DANNY Forrest feels he has found his feet after a bedding-in period as Silsden manager.

Forrest began the season as number two to James Gill but the partnership failed to flourish. After a brief period away from the club, he returned to the Cobbydalers after Gill had departed.

"I think that I've settled in. It took a good two or three weeks but it's starting to come together now," said Forrest.

"The squad have got used to us and are taking to our ways a bit and we are looking for a fourth straight win this weekend (at home to Sandbach), so the results are coming. I've always known that this team had goals in it – the problems were at the other end.

"I'm not saying that we've cracked it but we have managed to keep the numbers in the goals against column down just recently. That was our first objective, so that's what we wanted."

Forrest used his contacts and soon drafted in Matt McNeil, another former professional, to help in his first managerial job. In the short time that McNeil has been working as a defensive coach for the Cobbydalers, he has become integral to the club.

Silsden boss Forrest said: "I think we have to put more of a title on it, to be fair. Matt is the assistant manager now.

"At first he just came in to help strengthen the defence because he was a big, strong, no-nonsense defender for most of his career, although he did play up front at some time.

"He's passed on a lot of his experience and he's added that professionalism. He played for Stockport County and Macclesfield Town in Leagues One and Two, so he has the background."
