SILSDEN will try to put their dreadful run of form behind them when they make the short foray into Lancashire to take on close rivals Barnoldswick Town in the North West Counties Premier Division.

The Cobbydalers are hoping that many of their supporters also make the trip to cheer the players on. They certainly need something as they are only just out of the relegation zone on goal difference, while Barlick are a healthy eighth and looking upwards.

The home side returned to winning ways last Saturday with a 6-3 victory at AFC Liverpool.

Silsden have been badly affected by postponements recently and even lost home advantage in a Men United Cup tie with AFC Blackpool.

League rules state that a twice postponed tie must switch venue, it did but the first date at Blackpool’s ground was also washed out.

That was on Tuesday night so Ryan Haigh’s Cobbydalers haven’t had the chance to get last Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat to Atherton Collieries out of their systems. The club’s spokesman Jim Rosser said, “There was a lot of disappointment after that game and it hasn’t gone away.

“When you’re at home you expect to have a shot on target at least but our centre forward Wayne Morrison, who got three goals at Thackley when we beat them in the County Cup, looked off the pace.

“Chris Wademan tried but his few efforts went wide and Jack Brooks got the odd chance but didn’t trouble Atherton’s keeper. SWe need a change of luck.”

The Cobbydalers last league win was a 1-0 success against Nelson on October 16.
