Silsden 2, Sunderland RCA 4

SILSDEN'S involvement in this term's FA Vase competition is over after their road to Wembley took an early detour into a cul-de-sac.

The Cobbydalers suffered a heavy home defeat to Sunderland Ryhope Community Association, with all six goals coming in the second half.

The first period was far from dull, even if it did end goalless. Silsden created openings but had spells when they were pinned back by the excellent visitors.

The Northern League outfit are on a good run in their division and showed character to come back after going a goal down.

Just eight minutes after the break, Chris Wademan gave the home side the lead but Luke Proctor equalised three minutes later.

The visitors then took a firm grip on the tie with goals from Proctor and substitute Colin Larkin in a four-minute spell midway through the second period.

The Cobbydalers hit back when Talent Ndlovu, who was named as a substitute but had to start following an injury in the warm-up, scored two minutes from time.

But as the home side threw bodies forward looking for a leveller, Sunderland countered and Larkin – who has Wolves, Northampton and Harrogate Town among his former clubs – netted his second.
