SILSDEN face a crucial fixture tomorrow as the first quarter of their season approaches when they host Winsford United.

The Cobbydalers are a lowly 16th in the North West Counties League Premier Division but they would go above their eighth-placed visitors with a home win.

The clubs are separated by just three points, although they have the same goal difference.

Also Silsden would still have two games in hand on the Cheshire club.

If there is a repeat of last season’s result, the status quo will remain.

The 2014-15 meeting at the Angel Telecom Stadium ended in a goalless draw, although Winsford won the reverse fixture, which was the final game of last season.

The Cobbydalers go into the game on the back of a confidence-damaging 5-0 midweek defeat at AFC Blackpool.

Following that game, club secretary and spokesman Jim Rosser said: “I cannot believe it will be as bad on Saturday.

“Danny (Bolton, one of the club’s joint managers) wasn’t there on Tuesday because his father-in-law had died. That puts the loss of a football match into perspective.”
