FARSLEY will be in better shape for Saturday's Evo Stik Division One trip to Warrington Town after a midweek friendly.

Adam Priestley scored twice as they beat Hunslet FC 2-0 on Tuesday.

Manager Neil Parsley said his men ‘looked rusty and naïve’ in a lacklustre home draw against mid-table Burscough last weekend and needed a work out.

Parsley said: “We arranged a friendly against HT Sports before the Burscough game because we hadn’t played for almost three weeks, but even that was postponed. We wanted everyone to get a bit of time on the pitch.

“You can train as long and as hard as you like but you can’t replicate a match scenario unless you play.

“We couldn’t click against Burscough, and there were heavy legs out there and that’s what we were desperate to avoid.”

Parsley signed defender Adam McQuade earlier this week, and the former Guiseley man made his debut against Hunslet FC.

Farsley have as many as five games in handsome of their promotion rivals and are only three points outside the play-off places.

Brighouse Town face a short trip to Ossett Town.

Paul Quinn’s men are 16th after a home defeat last weekend but that came after two victories – one against leaders Salford City.

Ossett are two places below Brighouse with two games in hand but they are nine points adrift.

SILSDEN will put their five-game winning run on the line when they visit runaway North West Counties League Premier Division leaders Runcorn Linnets.

Their hosts are 15 points clear at the summit. However, they have played seven games more than second-placed Glossop North End.

The Cobbydalers are sixth in the table following last week’s 2-1 success over Runcorn Town.
