Congleton 2 Silsden 1
Silsden took a lead into the break at Congleton Town but were undone by two goals inside five second-half minutes.
The Cobbydalers have already secured their top-flight status in the North West Counties League but that has not curtailed their hunger. Despite having a depleted squad, they went to Cheshire full of optimism and Andy Hill fired them into the lead with a fantastic strike.
Congleton were held at bay at the start of the second half but they levelled in the 71st minute when Scott Sephton lashed in a long-range effort and Danny Bruce steered in the winner minutes later after hesitancy in the Cobbydalers’ defence.
Silsden’s rivals Barnoldswick Town also lost, so they go into tomorrow’s derby clash between them at Keighley Road both looking to bounce back from a defeat.
The Cobbydalers trail their neighbours by just two points and, with two games to play, are aiming to overhaul them.
