TYERSAL'S Daniel Shaw was both villain and hero in the first round of the Taylor's Timber West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division Cup.

His own goal put visitors Campion ahead early in the first half before he atoned by scoring at the right end to put his side on level terms by the interval.

Two second-half goals from Lee Smith and one from Adam Jarrett then swung the tie Campion's way, Ben McArdle replying for the hosts.

Salts skipper Joe Pleasance led his side to a 4-0 victory at Kirkburton with two goals to add to those from Luke Rhodes and Richard Magson, while Steeton won by the same scoreline at Hunsworth with strikes from Lee Reilly (2) Joe Park and Arran Abbas.

Dudley Hill Rangers were trounced 10-1 at Lower Hopton, Chris Gibbons netting Rangers' sole effort in the first half as the Mirfield-based side had Declan James and Liam Royal with trebles and Sylbert Stewart with a brace to add to goals from Nathan Alexander and Thomas Dunne.

Only one tie – between Littletown and Golcar United – required extra-time, Golcar edging it 5-3.

Huddersfield YMCA extended their perfect start to eight games in the Premier Division with a 3-1 home win over Ovenden West Riding, with Lee Bradshaw, Daniel Naidole and Wayne Stocker scoring for YMCA, while George Bamforth replied in the first half for Ovenden.

Halifax Irish moved up two places to fifth after beating second-placed Lepton Highlanders 5-4.

Only four league games were possible in Division One, with the away teams returning with the points.

Ventus Yeadon Celtic are up to fifth after beating Wibsey 4-2, with Danny Metcalfe, Kyle Shah, Antony Hannan and Paul Andrews scoring, Philip Brogan and Vaughan Clarke-Williamson replying.

Campion Reserves lost 3-1 at home to third-placed DRAM Community, with Chris Helliwell on target for the second string.

Steeton Reserves, who went down 4-1 to Overthorpe in the League Cup the previous weekend, fared little better this time around, losing their home league game 3-1 to the same opponents.

Meanwhile, newcomers Newsome extended their unbeaten start to eight games with a 6-1 victory at Westbrook YMCA.

Route One Rovers, TVR United and Thornton United, all three in their first season in Division Two, suffered setbacks.

Rovers stay in pole position despite losing 4-2 at home to Littletown Reserves, for whom Lamin Bojang notched a second-half hat-trick.

TVR United slipped to their first league defeat when Golcar United Reserves returned home 7-4 victors, and Salts had Mat Humm and Jamie Budell on target in a 2-1 home win over pointless Lower Hopton.

Thornton United, who had only conceded 14 goals in their first six league games, crashed out of the Division Two Cup 11-3 at Ovenden West Riding, whose Jason Carney and Joshua Brown bagged four apiece.
