MYRTLE Park produced a remarkable comeback in extra-time to win the Wharfedale Triangle League Cup against Ilkley Dynamo.
Myrtle, from the league’s second tier, came from 2-1 down to defeat their top-flight opponents 4-2 at Thackley.
Park opened the scoring through striker Ryan Hudson, before Ilkley took the lead through goals from Struan Connor and Danny Bryan.
Bingley-based Myrtle responded with midfielder Jason Kershaw’s goal, before winger Taylor Waddell’s effort and Kershaw’s second – both scored with just minutes remaining – sealed victory against the 2015 finalists.
Park manager Paul Law said: “We were the underdogs and to come back and win was superb. At 2-1 down, our goalkeeper saved a couple of chances which kept us in the game. We managed to pick up the pace after extra time and we’re delighted with the victory.”
Myrtle remain in the hunt for the Championship title with five games of the season remaining.
