DRIGHLINGTON remain the chief threats to unbeaten Premier Division leaders Leeds Medics & Dentists in the Yorkshire Amateur League.

This was emphasised by Drig's 6-3 victory at second-placed Stanley United.

Third-placed Drig, who are only three points behind United with three games in hand, were 3-0 ahead after 32 minutes after goals from Sam Thorpe, Ryan Rhodes and Chris Lee.

Stanley pulled a goal back but skipper Ben Small restored Drig's three-goal margin before the break.

United, who have won seven of their ten matches, made it 4-2 after the break but an own goal and an effort by Harvey Booth sunk them before they scored again.

Athletico, whose nickname could be 'The Entertainers', may only be sixth but they are the division's leading scorers after a 6-5 victory at third-bottom Morley Town.

Yet Town have probably still not got over the defeat as they went behind for the first time in the match in the 88th minute when Athletico got the game's 11th goal.

Three times Morley held the lead, twice by two goals, (2-0 and 4-2), but still it wasn't enough.

On target for Athletico were Mohammed Ikraaz (2), Mohammed Qasim, Shamraj Hussain (penalty but later sent off), Hassan Khan and Adil Tanveer.

Goal-scorers for Morley were Rob Gumbley, Jovan Kioseff, Ryan Hartley, Marc Haley and Kevin Mackay.

In the Championship Division, Ian Horrocks was once again man of the match for fourth-placed St Bede's, who beat visitors Wortley 3-1.

Having pushed Horrocks up front after a drab opening 20 minutes, he gave St Bede's the lead in the 26th minute with a scuffed shot after beating four players – and within minutes had made it 2-0 with a wonderful volley from a Derry Myers cross.

It became 3-0 in the 35th minute when Jermaine Moyce scored after Wortley's keeper had dropped a Lewis Dean free-kick.

The latter player then put the ball past in-form stand-in keeper Mick Dougan in the second half to give Wortley a glimmer of hope but they could not capitalise on Bede's giving the ball away.

In Division One, ninth-placed Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves drew 3-3 at third-placed Collegians but had to recover from 3-1 down after having a player dismissed.

Mitch Lofthouse had given Celtic the lead but they needed a half-time reshuffle before dominating the second half, goals arriving from a Louis Surtees free-kick and a Steven Wells shot as the visitors showed grit that is not always apparent.

Tyersal lost 2-0 at Farnley Sports but even though they dropped to ninth, the Bradford club are only one point behind out-of-sorts Sports with a game in hand.

In Division Two, Ben Howarth netted for Morley Town Reserves in their 2-1 defeat at Garforth Crusaders.

* LEEDS Medics & Dentists have become only the third Yorkshire Amateur League club to reach the quarter-finals of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup after a 1-0 victory at Thorne Colliery.

Brad Chambers decided the tie by netting a superb snap-shot in the 70th minute.
