HUDDERSFIELD forward Elias Kachunga could be ruled out for up to three months due to a knee injury.

Kachunga was carried off on a stretcher soon after scoring the opening goal in Saturday's 4-1 win at Watford following a collision with home goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes.

A Terriers statement said: "Subsequent scans have confirmed that 'Kache' has damaged his medial collateral ligament and, ahead of a visit to a specialist on Monday afternoon, he is provisionally expected to be sidelined for an estimated eight to 12 weeks."

Kachunga, 25, has been a regular starter for David Wagner's side in the Premier League this season and made a total of 19 appearances in all competitions.

The DR Congo international initially joined the Terriers on a season-long loan from German club Ingolstadt in July 2016 before the move was made permanent over the summer for a reported fee of £1.1million.

There was better news for Town regarding defender Chris Lowe, who was also forced off before half-time at Vicarage Road.

Lowe hurt his foot in a challenge with Daryl Janmaat but scans revealed no bones have been broken and the club confirmed the German could be available for the Premier League game at Southampton on Saturday.
