THE Yorkshire Amateur League's interest in the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy is finished for another season.

Fairbank United came closest to making the fourth round, recovering from 3-0 down against Armley CC only to lose 3-2, with the goals coming from Bilal Saleem and Abdullah Lone.

Meanwhile, Beeston St Anthony's Reserves triumphed 8-0 at Tyersal, whileMorley Town went down 4-2 at home to Halton Moor, with Anthony Linley and Ben Howarth getting the consolations.

In the Yorkshire Amateur League Premier Division, Athletico made it three successive victories, but only by pipping lowly visitors Morley Town 5-4.

Both sides led twice, but Mohammed Qasim netted the winner for Athletico, whose other goals came from Mahine Malik (2), Hassan Khan and Omar Israr as they climbed to fifth.

On target for Town were Adam Kenyon (2), Matthew Agar and Kevin Mackay.

Late goals from Grangefield Old Boys gave them a 2-1 derby home win over Stanningley Old Boys on a heavy pitch in a game that was well refereed by Mark Smith.

Jamie McGeorge put second-from-bottom Grangefield ahead, but they succumbed to goals from Shane Gaunt in the 70th minute and Tom Kitson ten minutes later as Grangefield climbed to eighth.

In the Championship Division, Calverley United kept the pressure on leaders Gildersome Spurs with an emphatic 6-2 home victory over Thornesians.

On target for the winners were leading scorer Matty Walker (2), Simon McQuiston, Jordan Williams, Josh Debenham and physically strong man of the match Ben Cook.

Spurs, whose goal difference is three better than Calverley's, triumphed 3-2 at Leeds Medics & Dentists Reserves, having led 3-0.

Steve Wales, Connor Firth and Johnny Hunt scored for Spurs, but an error by stand-in keeper Ben Keedy made for a tense finale.

St Bede's lost by the same score at home to Leeds Independent, but must be wondering how they failed to score more than two after Ian Horrocks was directing play in midfield.

Adeeb Jawad bagged a brace for Bede's, who were denied a point by a great save from Islam Hussain.

In Division One, Idle notched a battling 3-2 victory at Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves to climb to fourth, with games in hand on all those above them.

They trailed to a Danny Kemp goal after 15 minutes but equalised before half-time via Aaron Irving after good work by the midfield and Jack Strudwick.

After Carl Dawson-inspired Idle had held sway in the first half, the Celts were on top in the second half and took the lead with a composed finish by Jacob Kellett in the 59th minute.

However, the visitors slowly grew into the game again and won it with efforts by Irving and Strudwick, although the defence had to put their bodies on the line.

In Division Three, Morley Town Thirds won their home derby 2-1 against Tingley Athletic, courtesy of goals from Rob Mayes and Grahame Stockdale.

The goalscorers for Morley Town AFC III were: Rob Mayes 1 & Grahame Stockdale 1

Prospect have now scored 61 goals in nine matches in Division Four, and their 4-1 triumph at Drighlington Reserves in a top-of-the-table clash has made them front-runners.

Jordan Farrell gave the Bradford side the lead and, although Brett Thompson levelled, Prospect were sewpt to victory by Adam Shefta, Brad Holland and the influential Kingsley Rowe-Depass.

However, this was no one-sided game as Thompson hada header cleared off the line and Drighlington hit the woodwork three times.

Gildersome Spurs Old Boys Reserves moved up to third behind Prospect and Drighlington after a 3-2 home win over Calverley United Reserves, but have played more matches than both of them.

In a battle of new teams, Sam Innes and Mark Suffield put Spurs ahead, and Suffield's second clinched it.

Tom Moseley and Matt Dougan, in the first half, and Matthew Spence and Henry Moseley in the second half gave St Bede's Reserves a 4-1 win at Old Centralians to put them second in Division Five, while Tyersal Reserves consolidated eighth place with a 2-0 victory at Shire Academics Fourths, with Raymond Coleman and Chris Gibbons on target.
