BRADFORD City Women are boosted by the return of two key players this weekend as they look to bounce back against local rivals Guiseley Vixens.

Having seen out her three-match suspension, striker Laura Elford is back, as is midfielder Ellie White who missed her first minutes of the season through injury last week.

The Bantams suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Derby County in the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division on Sunday, but it’s been a positive week on the training pitch ahead of tomorrow’s local derby.

“We went back to basics this week, working on patterns of play and securing and looking after the ball,” said player-manager Charlotte Stuart.

“We’ll have a more complete squad this Sunday as well.

“White has worked hard to overcome her quad strain and Elford’s three-match ban is now up.

“All the players have worked hard over the week and are looking forward to the game.”

Tomorrow will be the first time City have played Guiseley in a league fixture since a 5-1 win in October 2015, almost exactly two years ago.

The Vixens have given them a couple of tough games in the West Riding County Cup since, but the Bantams have never lost to their rivals in the FA Women’s Premier League era.

However, Stuart says her team are not focused on past results, and that nothing changes tomorrow despite it being a derby.

“Of course we would love to get the win over our local rivals,” she said.

“But a win is a win and the preparation stays the same.

“We were all very disappointed with last week’s result and we’ll go out tomorrow wanting to put that right.”

Kick-off is 2pm at Nethermoor as City bid to maintain their perfect record over the hosts.
