GUISELEY Vixens are storming home in the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division One championship race.

They go into their final game at home to Crewe Alexandra with massive 13-point lead, while West Riding neighbours Brighouse Town are assured of a top-six place whatever happens in their final league game at Blackpool Wren Rovers.

Yet neither game is going to be a meaningless end-of-season affair, for both Crewe and Rovers are in danger of finishing second bottom if Mossley Hill can snatch a surprise win at Hull City.

Brighouse face a dilemma of whether to field a full-strength side ahead of their County Cup final against Premier Division (North) outfit Bradford City next Wednesday.

The last thing they want is a disappointing defeat ahead of such a vital game but, on the other hand, the in-form Calderdale side do not want to find themselves with any injuries.

As for Guiseley, the stage is set for a day of celebration. They go into this game having trounced closest rivals Hull 6-2 in their last game and although they were held to a 2-2 draw at Crewe when the two sides first met, the Vixens must fancy their chances of seeing the season out in style.

They might have expected a tight game against Hull last week but the result was never in doubt. They led 4-1 at half-time and added two more, to Hull's one, after the interval, with the goals coming from former Bradford duo Chantelle O'Hara (3) and Sarah Danby, Liv Thackray and Natalie Brace.

In the Northern Reserve Division, Huddersfield Town finished runners-up while, in an otherwise disappointing season for the West Yorkshire clubs, Bradford, Guiseley and Brighouse all finished in the bottom four.

Southern Division champions Farsley Celtic travel to East Yorkshire side Malet Lambert for their final fixture in the North East Regional League and will be joining West Yorkshire neighbours Castleford and Wakefield in the Premier Division next season.
