THE bottom-of-the-table Premier Division derby in the Spen Valley League was predictably close.

Mohammed Qasim, Kamran Khan and Adil Tanvir were on target for hosts Girlington at Avenue Road but goals from Mohammed Raaj, Qendrim Emini, Dhanyaal Hussain and Mahine Malik helped Athletico pinch it 4-3.

The victory lifted Athletico off the basement and they are now a point ahead of Bradford rivals Girlington with three games in hand.

There was drama aplenty in the Division One matches played, with top two George Healey and Inter Batley drawing 3-3 at Carter's Field.

Simon Moore, Reece Scholes and Ben Aparicio were on target for hosts and leaders George Healey – but that was matched by Harron Laher (2) and an own goal as unbeaten George Healey failed to win for only the second time in 11 league matches, although they are still eight points ahead of Inter Batley with a game in hand.

In the Spen Valley Memorial Trophy, Group B leaders Palestino triumphed 5-1 at Marsh courtesy of goals from Jamie Chadwick (2), Abdul Qayum, Zubiar Khan and Paddy Mumbly.
