FARSLEY Celtic Juniors have avenged the only Premier Division defeat of their Yorkshire Amateur League season in style.

Beaten 3-2 at Beeston in October, Celtic led 3-0 by half-time in the reverse fixture on the way to a 7-0 victory over the seventh-placed club.

Goals came from leading scorer Danny Lyons (4), Craig Farrand, Louis Surtees and Josh Maskill, who has returned to the club after living in Australia.

The victory leaves Celtic second in the table, with Leeds Medics two points ahead but having played three more matches.

Grangefield Old Boys showed a much-needed return to form with a 4-1 home win over bottom club Wigton Moor. Kristian Dacre and first-team debutant Tom Needham both bagged braces as the old boys moved out of the relegation berths.

Former Liversedge manager Eugene Lacy earned praise for his handling of the Championship Division clash between Calverley United and Beeston St Anthony's, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

United endured a dismal end to 2016 but re-signing Steve Wells from Farsley Celtic has lifted some of the gloom and he went close four times in the first half before guiding a parry home off the keeper to make it 1-0.

Saints were in control for much of the second half and led 2-1 but a half chance, netted by Lucas Edelscen, led to a share of the spoils.

Drighlington were trailing 1-0 at Collingham Juniors at the interval but turned it around with four goals in seven minutes at the start of the second half to win 6-2.

Brett Thompson (5) and Danny Moon were on target for Drig, who are up to fourth after five wins out of six.

Horsforth St Margaret's emphasised their Division One promotion credentials with a 5-0 home win over next-to-bottom Grangefield Old Boys' Reserves, the goals coming from James Watson (2), Jake Williams (2) and Greg Rowell.

St Bede's, who beat Dewsbury Rangers 4-1, are another contender but had to come from a goal behind.

Andrew McHugh equalised before half-time and put them ahead in the second half after good work by Adeeb. Then Nick Scullion finished Rangers off with a brace, including a penalty.

Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves, beaten 2-1 at home by Old Batelians, are a shadow of the team that won promotion last season.

Leeds Independent and Gildersome Spurs Old Boys are level with St Bede's on 26 points after a 1-1 draw. Dave Denison put Spurs ahead but they missed a couple of glorious chances to win it towards the end.

Second-placed Idle won 6-3 at Lepton Highlanders in Division Two but had to recover from 2-0 down, Arron Irving (3), Ryan Mitchell, Carl Dawson and Tom Simonett being their marksmen.

Fairbank United found the Leeds Modernians defence in stern form but the Division Three leaders won 2-0 after wasting some early chances. Fezan Akubat and Mahmadu Dambe got the goals and United kept a first clean sheet of the season, despite Mods having a late revival.
