GUISELEY Vixens take an early break for the Christmas and New Year holiday when they sit out this week's West Riding County FA Women's Cup following the withdrawal of scheduled opponents Ossett Town.

Ossett, having suffered recent heavy league defeats including an 8-0 hammering from Silsden in their last game, have opted to concede their last-16 tie.

Vixens will now go to fellow FA Women's Premier League Division One (North) side Leeds Ladies in the quarter-final.

Despite their struggles in the West Riding County League Premier Division, where they are currently third from bottom, Bradford Park Avenue have advanced in the County Cup thanks to second-round opponents Amaranth conceding their tie last week following injuries during the match.

Skipper Sarah Huby and Laura Wilkinson were on target for Avenue but an injury to the home side's keeper and the later collapse of a second player left the Leeds-based side unable to continue as Bradford set up a third-round tie at Farsley Celtic tomorrow.

Brighouse Town are finding life tough since promotion to Division One (North) of the Premier League, losing 2-1 at home to Hull City in their last outing, but they are expected to win by a landslide in tomorrow's County Cup tie at Lower Hopton.

While the Mirfield side are enjoying a good season in the Third Division of the County League, currently lying third, Brighouse are six divisions above them in the pyramid.

Despite their struggles Town are hopeful of a change in their fortunes after securing the services of Eleanor Chiesielski on loan from FA Women's Super League side Doncaster Belles.

In the remaining County Cup third round ties, Division One Tyersal, with home advantage, will be hoping to get the better of fellow County Leaguers Brighouse Athletic of the Premier Division, while Castleford White Rose are at home to Harrogate Railway and Altofts entertain Brayton Belles.

The other tie is Bradford City's game at Yorkshire Amateurs.
