CENTRE half Arthur Okonkwo's classy hat-trick wasn't enough to prevent Leeds Medics & Dentists from suffering their first defeat of the season in any competition.

Clinical but understrength Farsley Celtic Juniors beat the Yorkshire Amateur League Premier Division leaders 4-3, but Medics still lead the section by four points from Ealandians, who have two games in hand, with Farsley third, a point further adrift, with three matches in hand.

Celtic only created five chances, but converted four of them, while Medics hit the woodwork three times and ran into inspired keeper Jordan Wright.

Farsley opened the scoring on 20 minutes with a cracking strike from Alex Gyte, but Medics had two strong penalty appeals turned down before Okonkwo's powerful header restored parity.

Tom Murgatroyd then punished sloppy defending to give Farsley a 2-1 advantage and, although Medics dominated the second half, they conceded two goals to on-song striker Danny Lyons.

After switching to 3-5-2, Okonkwo completed his hat-trick to ensure a nervy finish, but Farsley survived the four minutes of added time.

Drighlington had only played three matches in the Championship Division, but had won them all.

However, they dropped their first points of the season in a 1-1 stalemate at Leeds Medics & Dentists Reserves, who are now second on goal difference.

Drig, who remained seventh, went ahead in the 40th minute after Brett Thompson headed home from a corner but they conceded when Johnny Cattrall netted the rebound from his own penalty.

Weakened Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves lost 2-0 at Garforth Rangers in Division One but Gildersome Spurs Old Boys notched their first victory over Huddersfield YMCA, chiefly thanks to super sub Mike Hall.

He scored after 55 minutes and also converted a penalty before Jacob Scott completed the scoring as the old boys went top on goal difference.

Second-from-bottom Grangefield Old Boys showed how basement boys Rothwell are struggling, defeating the visitors 11-1 to notch only their second victory of the season.

Rees O'Hare (3), Matt Dickey (3), Mark Devine, Tom Hall, Dave Sexton, Keelan Milner and James Kemp were on target for Grangefield.

Leeds Independent and St Bede's are two of the other clubs battling for the title alongside Gildersome and Horsforth St Margaret's, and played out a 2-2 draw.

Centre backs Christopher Drake and Ty Akram combined to put Bede's 1-0 up, with Drake supplying the pass and Akram the finish, but Leeds levelled five minutes later via a soft penalty.

The ever-dangerous Tawheed Ahmed crossed for Nick Scullion to put Bede's 2-1 ahead before half-time but carelessly conceded a goal with the last kick of the half.

Bede's played uphill in the second half and had less possession but carved out the better chances, with Nathan Bailey shooting over after Jarad Peltier's 25-yarder had been tipped onto the bar.

In Division Two, Idle went second after hammering out-of-sorts Woodkirk Valley 7-0, with goals from Aaron Irving (3), Jack Strudwick, Ryan Mitchell, Danny Rosconnie and Tom Simonett.

Fairbank United are second on goal difference in Division Three after a 4-3 victory at Huddersfield Amateur, taking the lead after five minutes via Ibrahim Khan after a good cut-back from Shoaib Hussain.

Amateur were leading 2-1 at half-time but Mahmadu Kante made it 3-2 with a cool finish at the back post and a shot from a wide angle.

Huddersfield levelled with a penalty before Kante bagged his second hat-trick in as many weeks. netting at the back post from a Khan cross.

In Division Five, Drighlington Reserves are out of the bottom two following a 2-1 victory over visitors Leeds City Old Boys Thirds.

Drig had to come from behind, however, via goals either side of half-time by Jamie Snellgrove as they climbed to eighth.

Norristhorpe Reserves and St Bede's Reserves maintained their tradition of cracking matches against each other when they met in the second round of the Hodgson Cup.

Sam Everett put Norristhorpe ahead early doors after turning and slotting home following fine work by Chris Roome, but they were then thwarted by the woodwork, the Bede's keeper and some lucky defending.

Then, from a long punt downfield that was misread, Mick Dougan rounded the keeper to level but Norristhorpe's domination paid dividends as an excellent cross from man of the match George Woodcock allowed James Pedersen to loop his header over the despairing Bede's keeper for the winner.
