GUISELEY Vixens were saved from bottom spot in the Northern section of the FA Women's Premier League when champions Sporting Albion secured a 1-0 win over Loughborough Foxes to leave the Leicestershire side with the wooden spoon.

But Vixens still need to win their final game at home to Newcastle on Tuesday to guarantee a third-bottom spot, and with it survival, ahead of Nuneaton, who are currently two points clear of them.

Even if John Shirt's Guiseley side fail to beat Newcastle they will still beat the drop if Albion fail to gain promotion to Women's Super League Two in their play-off with Brighton.

Bradford City's largely successful season has fallen away to a disappointing finish. They had only a Danielle Whitham penalty to show for their efforts in a 4-1 defeat at Sporting Albion but they are assured of fifth place in the Northern Division.

Unbeaten North East Regional League Premier Division leaders Brighouse Town need just one point from their final game, at home to Whitley Bay, to take the title and clinch promotion to Division One North of the FA Premier League.

If Brighouse fail to claim the crown, Barnsley could overhaul them on goal difference if they win their last two games.
