THACKLEY Reserves beat Ossett Town Reserves 2-1 in their final match of the season in the Lancashire League.
The prize of finishing runners-up was at stake for both teams and it was an even game until Ryan Stubbs edged Thackley ahead with a sublime chip over the goalkeeper.
Thackley spurned a great chance to increase their lead when Ryan Ives missed a penalty and Ossett took advantage to equalise a few minutes later.
Then with ten minutes remaining, Thackley substitute Bradley Pearson put his side back in front to secure a win that meant the Dennyfield team finished the season second.
