BRIGHOUSE Town Reserves lost their Lancashire League Cup semi-final 2-1 at Colne Reserves.
Two evenly-matched teams, with Brighouse playing down the slope, resulted in a goalless first half.
Town then dominated the first 20 minutes of the second period, only for Colne to score against the run of play.
Brighouse equalised through Ernest Boafo and the game was then end to end as each team searched for the winner.
With ten minutes to go, Colne grabbed it and Brighouse assistant manager Barry Thomas said: "In the final minutes, we played with only three defenders but just couldn't get the equaliser."
The Northern Under-19 Alliance Pat Rice League Cup semi-final between Nostell MW and Liversedge was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. It will now be played next Wednesday at Nostell (7.45pm).
