FAIRBANK United were disappointed with a 2-2 draw with FC Headingley in a Yorkshire Amateur League encounter played at Dixons Academy on a 4G pitch.

In a poor start, Fairbank found themselves 2-0 down after 25 minutes courtesy of goals from Andy Hume and Sam Walker with FC Headingley man of the match, right winger Lewis Brooks, particularly prominent.

An excellent goal just before half-time by Imam Asim hauled Fairbank back into the game.

They were level early in the second half after captain Bahlal Saleem slotted home a penalty and, while they dominated the second half, poor decision-making in the final third cost them victory.

An excellent save from the Headingley keeper from a point blank header from Razzik Ali with 10 minutes left helped secure the point for the visitors in a game Fairbank should have won.

The consequence of the draw is that Fairbank, with fourteen points from nine fixtures, lost ground in the promotion race.

They dropped to sixth in the table being overtaken by Horsforth St Margaret's, who swamped Middleton Park 13-0.

FC Headingley stressed how much they enjoyed their afternoon and they are now eighth with 11 points from nine matches.
