AFTER losing two of their last three matches, Gildersome Spurs OB returned to form to defeat Morley Town AFC Reserves 5-2 after leading at the interval 3-0 on the 3G pitch at Bruntcliffe School.

Gildersome remain second in Yorkshire Amateur League Division 2, four points behind leaders Farsley Juniors OB Res with both teams having played 10 games.

Four points behind Spurs OB are Churwell Lions, who have also played ten matches.

After a promising start to the campaign Morley Town Reserves have slipped to seventh in the Table after four defeats in the last five fixtures.

Andy Feeny, Ben Keedy (2), Lee Thrush and Mike Hall were the Spurs OB scorers with Conor Firth the industrious man of the match for Spurs.

Marc Haley and an Adam Lynes own-goal found the net for Morley.

Mike Hall has now netted 19 League and Cup goals this season and is second only to Steve Wells, who has bagged a phenomenal 35 for Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves.

Ben Keedy is making his way back after injury and added one goal to make his tally a more modest seven goals from six matches for Gildersome.

To say it was a disappointing weekend was an understatement.

Only three games were played out of a possible 40 and only one on a grass surface.

Among the casualties was an important County Cup fixture in which Farsley Celtic Juniors were due to play a last sixteen tie at previous holders of the County Cup Rimington from the East Lancs League.

In the County Trophy Drighlington’s fourth round clash with Alwoodley Res was also a victim of the almost non-stop rain.

Fairbank United, through to the forth round of the Challenge Trophy, have yet to have their opponents named as Slaithwaite United and Rolls Res try to resolve their outstanding joust that first appeared on the fixture list for December 5.
