BRADFORD Park Avenue have made a positive move to beat the weather with an announcement this week that all their remaining home games in the West Riding County League Premier Division will be played on the 3G pitch at Thornton Recreation Centre.

So their game against struggling Gledhow AFC tomorrow is one of the few that is almost guaranteed to go ahead!

With only four games played in the league this season Avenue are desperate to get some game time under their belts and three points from a, so far, pointless Gledhow would be a big boost to their hopes of pulling away from the relegation zone.

Elsewhere the situation is once again looking grim. Bradford, Barnsley, Doncaster and Leeds councils have all closed their grounds for this weekend which means Bradford City's reserve and A team games scheduled for Rawdon Meadows are already off.

The City first team, who have been sidelined by the weather for the last month, have only a very slim chance of their FA Women's Premier League derby clash with Huddersfield Town being played.

The Eccleshill United pitch, City's home ground this season, was due to be inspected this morning but the pitch is said to be very wet and, in all likelihood, unplayable.

It is obviously very frustrating but Guiseley Vixens, whose game last week went the way of almost every other local fixture, will be hoping for better luck as they are due to travel to the East Midlands for a game against fellow strugglers Loughborough Foxes.

Vixens are looking for only their second win of the season in the Premier League (North) – and the three points that will lift them out of the bottom two for the first time since their promotion from Division One. Loughborough are currently one point ahead of Guiseley in third bottom spot having played the same number of games.
