TWO of the area's clubs are guaranteed to be in the semi-finals of the West Riding County FA Cup following the midweek third-round draw.

Local clubs have dominated the County FA's flagship competition in recent seasons, with Bradford Park Avenue the current holders.

Eccleshill United were victorious in the previous campaign and, prior to that, Guiseley won three competitions on the trot.

The final has been held at Valley Parade, home of Bradford City, over the last few years and it has produced some epic contests – such as Guiseley's victory over Avenue in extra time after a ding-dong local derby.

Unfortunately, the two highest-ranking sides remaining this season were drawn together as FC Halifax Town were handed a home draw against Avenue.

Martin Drury's men will have the sternest of tests to keep their hands on their trophy but one of those two teams will be in the last four – and so will one of three other local clubs.

Thackley host Liversedge in the second round on Tuesday and the winners will be at home to Silsden, who knocked out Guiseley in midweek.

There could yet be a third representative from the area as Brighouse Town have yet to play their second-round tie.

They were due to host Harrogate Town on Monday but thick fog caused a postponement.

The clubs have rearranged the tie for Monday, November 16, and they now know that the winners will earn a home quarter-final against Barnoldswick Town.

The only tie in the last eight guaranteed to have no local interest sees Ossett Albion hosting either Garforth Town or Armthorpe Welfare.
