MOST teams have only played two matches in the Yorkshire Amateur League, but only potential champions Grangefield Old Boys have a 100 per cent record in the Premier Division.

In a superb contest between two well-matched teams, they defeated improving visitors Alwoodley 1-0.

The only goal of the game came in the 44th minute from the influential Andy Kenyon but Alwoodley, still to gain a point but roused by a half-time team talk from skipper Andy Kilner, produced a late flurry that bodes well for their top-five hopes.

Defending champions Ealandians won 4-3 at below-par 2014-15 runners-up Farsley Celtic Juniors, Danny Lyons' curling left-footer getting the hosts on the board just before half-time, although not before James Greenwood had bagged a hat-trick.

Louis Surtees added a second for Farsley just after the interval but the introduction of player-manager Wayne Crossley steadied the ship for Ealandians with a goal before Lyons' late second gave a misleading scoreline.

Perennial strugglers St Bede's, helped by two own goals from the Colton Athletic keeper, repeated their opening-day 7-2 victory in Division One.

The visitors laid the platform in the first half when they were playing up the slope into a strong breeze, Jamal Nash giving them the lead from a penalty after Jordan Northin was brought down.

Although Colton equalised through Andrew Kinghorn after the interval, prolonged Bede's pressure brought goals from Northin, Nash, Nathan Bailey, after a superb solo run, Tahir Akram, from a header in the dying minutes, and impressive substitute Trevor Ruwaya (2).

However, Bede's are only second, despite their 14-4 tally as Drighlington are above them with a 15-2 record following a 6-0 win at Leeds Medics & Dentists.

Shane Sowden was the hero with five goals, backing up his initial hat-trick, Josh Sheldrake getting the other strike. Bailey Collington was outstanding in defence for Drig.

Calverley United, buoyed by new signings Jack Kitson and Rob Nicholson and the return of Phil Coates and Danny Littlewood, won 1-0 at pointless Wheelwright, Kitson's 20-yard first-half free-kick proving the difference, although Wheelwright pressed hard for an equaliser in the second half.

Farsley Celtic Juniors are off the mark in Division Two after a 3-1 victory at Old Collegians, Steve Wells putting the visitors ahead in the third minute before Collegians equalised.

However, Wells struck again in the 68th minute and, with all of the home players upfield for the last knockings, including their keeper, Wells stroked the ball home for his hat-trick after a clearance found him in acres of space.

Gildersome Spurs Old Boys, trailing 1-0, made some important changes during the interval and finished up 5-1 winners over visitors Sandal Wanderers in Division Two, taking their goal tally to 12.

Ben Keedy (2), who now has five, pacy substitute Mike Hall (2) and Adam Cater were Spurs' marksmen as they preserved their 100 per cent record.

A hat-trick for Anthony Garner enabled St Bede's Reserves to rescue a point in a 3-3 home draw against Huddersfield Amateur Reserves in Division Six, the equaliser coming in the last five minutes.
