AVENUE will begin their defence of the West Riding County Cup with a trip to Albion Sports.

Both sides were handed first-round byes in the draw for the opening stages of the competition, which Avenue won at Valley Parade in April when Chib Chilaka netted the only goal against Garforth Town.

Four of the area's clubs are involved in the first round, although they have escaped any local derby ties.

Farsley Celtic will host Evo-Stik League Division One North rivals Ossett Town, while Liversedge also have home advantage against a league rival as Pontefract Collieries visit Clayborn.

North West Counties League top-tier club Silsden travel to Northern Counties East League second-tier outfit Selby Town and Eccleshill United make the short journey to Barnoldswick Town.

Depending on how those ties go, the second round is potentially loaded with derbies – including Avenue's visit to Albion.

FC Halifax Town also enter at that stage and they will host the winner of Farsley's tie.

If Silsden are successful at Selby, their reward will be a home clash with National League newcomers Guiseley.

Brighouse Town may have received a bye into the second round but their tie could not be much tougher as they will host Harrogate Town.

Thackley could have a home derby as they await the winners of the Sedge v Ponte clash. If Eccleshill progress, they will be at home against either Harrogate Railway Athletic or Glasshoughton Welfare.

First-round ties are scheduled for the midweek beginning October 5, with the second round from November 9.
