FARSLEY Celtic Juniors paid for a lack of discipline in their West Riding County FA Challenge Cup quarter-final at Leeds City.

Leading 1-0 at half-time via a Tom Ormondroyd header, Celtic had Paul Dockerty sent off for a sliding tackle early in the second half.

Barrie Frankland deflected the subsequent free-kick into his own net, and they went 2-1 down after 70 minutes.

Despite being the stronger side for the last 15 minutes, Craig Farrand nearly equalising, Celtic couldn't score again but had done the YORKSHIRE AMATEUR LEAGUE proud by becoming the first team from their league to reach the last eight.

In the league, basement boys Calverley United went down 3-0 at home to runaway Championship Division leaders Farnley Sports, while Grangefield Old Boys Reserves drew a Division One thriller 4-4 at home to Collingham Juniors Old Boys.

Grangefield trailed 4-2 but braces by Tom Carlisle (2) and Grant Jackson (2) not only hauled them level but also lifted them out of the bottom two.

St Bede's Reserves are propping up Division Two but only lost 2-1 at home to leaders Wheelwright Old Boys, Steve Thwaites giving Bede's a first-half advantage.

In Division Three, fifth-placed Bainbridge made it five wins on the trot with a 6-0 home victory over second-from-bottom Headingley Reserves, Shoaib Hussain notching four and leading scorer Raffiq Ali two, but they were bettered by young midfielder Tyler Cooper, who netted five for fourth-placed Farsley Celtic Juniors Reserves in a 7-0 win over bottom-placed visitors Middleton Park Reserves – Ben Gekonge and Louis Edmonds also netting.
