BAILDON Trinity Athletic went on a West Yorkshire League goal spree as they hammered hosts Yorkshire Amateur 9-2 in their Division Two encounter.

The Amateurs had been 3-0 winners at Jenny Lane earlier in the season and the weekend's reverse score was one that neither team could have predicted.

Baildon managed to convert four chances in the first half, two of which were scored by right midfielder John James and the others from Ben Craven and Danny Milner.

The home side nicked a reply just before the end of the first period but were very much second best to the visitors.

The second 45 minutes opened with a quick second goal from Yorkshire Amateurs but then Trinity resumed control and added another five goals, including two more for James.

Craven doubled up, with Andrew Radosevic and Louis Francis completing the tally.

Premier Division leaders Field AFC were edged out 3-2 at home to second-placed title rivals Bardsey.

Andy Hawker nudged Field ahead after 28 minutes and Danny Cunningham made it 2-0 on the hour mark, only for Bardsey to hit back and claim a win that closed the gap at the top of the table to six points.

Baildon Trinity Athletic Reserves beat Wyke Wanderers Reserves 7-4 in Alliance Division Two.

Wyke were 1-0 up within five minutes through Jordan Lewandowski but Baildon were soon level as Johnny Reynolds weaved his magic and calmly side-footed the ball past the goalkeeper.

Sam Digby then netted to make it 2-1 as Wyke responded straight away, only for Baildon to respond again with a well-worked corner finished off by Ian firth.

Wyke went ahead again just before half-time with a goal from Joe Sagar and deserved their interval lead of 3-2.

Baildon man of the match Nick Wadsworth beat two players and smashed a shot in off the post to make it 3-3.

Wyke should have taken the lead again but missed two one-on-one chances with Baildon goalkeeper Ian Webb – and straight from the second of those, Reynolds put Michael Haran through on goal to make 4-3.

It was soon 5-3 as Baildon's deadly duo combined again, with Reynolds' shot well saved only for Haran to put away the rebound.

Baildon quickly made it 6-3 as Haran burst down the wing and put a cross into the box that saw a Wyke defender deflect the ball into his own net.

Wyke gave themselves a chance with a well-taken free-kick that the Baildon goalkeeper had no chance of saving.

But the game was finally put to bed as Ian Firth rolled back the years to smash in an unstoppable shot from outside the box.

West Riding County FA Challenge Cup action saw Wyke Wanderers bow out 2-1 after extra time against Lower Hopton.

This was a repeat of last season's Wheatley Cup final between two evenly-matched sides.

Lower Hopton went ahead with a good shot from outside the area but Wyke got back into the match and had a few chances to equalise in the first half, forcing four corners.

Ian Horrocks finished neatly as Wyke equalised in the latter stages following a fine four-man move, while another great move down the right saw Ben Bodle just failing to connect with a flying header.

Extra time saw both teams having chances, with Bodle hitting the post for Wyke after a fine run before Lower Hopton grabbed the winner with time running out.
