Toolstation Northern Counties East League Cup third round: Bottesford Town 0 Campion 3
CAMPION became one of the first teams to reach the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Cup fourth-round last night when the Division One club claimed the scalp of top-tier outfit Bottesford Town.
The Scunthorpe-based Premier Division side had home advantage but James Bicknell’s red and blacks, who are seventh in the lower tier, immediately below the play-off places, eased through.
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 37th minute via Jason Carney, and the tie was effectively over after 54 minutes when they opened up a three-goal lead.
Two goals inside a three-minute spell sealed the win.
Piteu Crouz doubled Campion’s advantage before Devonte Morton, the former Guiseley Academy graduate who was signed from Bottesford’s Premier Division rivals Liversedge, added to his debut hat-trick in the weekend’s 11-1 win over FC Bolsover in the league.
Liversedge were due to travel to Athersley Recreation in the Premier Division but that game fell foul of the weather.
No new date for that fixture has yet been arranged.
