BRIGHOUSE Town have bolstered their squad for the forthcoming season with the signing of three players from Sheffield FC.

Midfielder Danny Ramsey joins Reece Treasure and Andrew Gascoigne at St Giles Road as the club replace key players, including forward Michael Fish.

Fish joined the club in February and made an instant impact on his debut, scoring both Town's goals in a 2-1 win over Prescot Cables.

The striker notched up 11 for the season but has left for Colne, while Luke Parkin – who scored 14 goals last season – has joined Farsley Celtic.

New Brighouse boss Vill Powell, who became first-team coach last month after leaving Harrogate Town, believes his new crop of players will help the side have a strong season.

He said: "We brought four new faces in very early and soon added Andy Gascoigne to that. Others have come in since as we build up towards the coming season.

"We've strengthened in areas that I thought we needed to. I wasn't here at the club last season but I've done my research and spoken to other managers, coaches and people I know in the game.

"I'll see for myself now that we have come back in for training just what we have. However, I believe the squad is very good."

In addition, Brighouse have also brought in former Hallam FC man Matty Ord and goalkeepers Rob White, Owen Brooks and Chris Brutt, while former Huddersfield Town player Nathaniel Brown has been named as Powell's assistant.

The head coach said: "I also keep watch over non-League football in general, so I think that I can trust my judgement, and I definitely have confidence in the judgement of the people who are here with me.

"Players always move around in the close season – that'll never stop – so until the dust settles and the season starts on August 12, there is still a lot that can happen."
