Evo-Stik Division One North: Brighouse Town 3 Clitheroe 4

BRIGHOUSE Town mounted a spirited fightback after finding themselves 3-0 down but they still lost out to visitors Clitheroe in a seven-goal thriller at the Dual Seal Stadium.

The Lancashire side breezed into a three-goal lead inside 20 minutes, and looked to have blown Town away.

Sefton Gonzales broke the deadlock in the seventh minute, Scott Harries doubled the Blues’ advantage eight minutes later and then set up Brandon Barski for a close-range finish.

Clitheroe took that lead into the break but Paul Quinn’s men soon started to eat into it, the comeback being started with an own goal.

A shot from James Hurtley was off target but flew in off Daniel Brady.

Just three minutes later, Danny Facey rifled a shot from inside the area into the top corner.

Town must have thought that they had rescued a point in the 88th minute when Steve Hollingworth equalised on the follow-up after his initial effort was blocked.

However, Gonzales broke the hearts of the home side and their supporters when he netted three minutes into stoppage time after an excellent run by Harries.
