Brighouse Town 2, Clitheroe 4

BRIGHOUSE Town failed to make the most of a visit from one of the clubs below them in Evo-Stik League Division One North.

Clitheroe leapfrogged their hosts after controlling the game with goals at key times, beginning with their seventh-minute opener.

Town hardly had chance to settle as David Lynch gave the Lancashire outfit an early advantage.

And they could see the points disappearing later in the half as the visitors scored twice in as many minutes to go 3-0 up.

Sam Dickinson netted Clitheroe's second and Sefton Gonzales added the third in the 35th minute.

The home side rallied and had something to give them heart going into the half-time break as Ernest Boafo scored with a scuffed shot in stoppage time.

Town boss Paul Quinn made a change during the interval, replacing Tom Matthews with Elliott Kebbie.

He then used his other two changes either side of the hour mark as he tried to engineer a way back into the contest for his side.

That came in the 74th minute when Boafo turned his marker and fired a shot home.

But instead of completing a comeback, Town again fell two goals behind as Danny Morton added Clitheroe's fourth nine minutes later.
