WEST Bowling are through to the semi-finals of the Bradford Sunday Alliance League's GOALS Senior Cup.

However, it wasn't easy as the Premier Division side, who only started with ten men, only beat First Division Aire Athletic 1-0.

Bowling were indebted to keeper Ashley Onitiri for a good ninth-minute save down by a post, pushing the ball for a corner, but two minutes later Bowling were reduced to nine men when John Lamb pulled up with a bad back and was unable to continue.

With the wind at their backs, Bowling created a few half-chances and could have gone in at the break in the lead but were glad to get to half-time level.

The second half began with both teams back to a full complement and, with Aire Athletic now having the wind in their favour, chances were created at both ends, but the visitors' defence stood strong, and after 85 minutes they struck the killer blow.

Chris Wood put the ball into the channel for Bowling's leading scorer Glyn Hirst, who knocked the ball past the home keeper

Thornton United demolished First Division Beldon Oddies 10-1 in the remaining quarter-final.

Ryan Stubbs led the way for the Premier Division outfit, hitting five, while Marcus Davey and Emott Parr Gallagher added a brace each.

Daniel Cunningham completed the tally, with Graham Kay replying.

Mill Lane were almost as emphatic winners in the third round of the GOALS Amateur Cup, demolishing Turf 9-1, with Leeven Moses bagging four and Mick Consterdine a brace for the winners.

There was also some league action, but Oakenshaw missed the chance to put pressure on leaders West Bowling and Thornbury Celtic by losing 3-2 to the latter.

A double form Hussain Ali and a strike from Shazad Iqbal did the damage for Celtic, who climbed to second, with Oakey replying via Josh Hands and Andy Atkinson.

Buttershaw Celtic led hosts Bradford Moor 2-1 at the interval but a second-half blitz, with a hat-trick from Lee Smith and a brace from Andrew Tasker was too much for Moor, who replied through Mohammed Faisel.

Lyceum came from behind in their First Division derby at Swaine Green.

Krishan Patel hit a double for the hosts, and the leaders replied with strikes from Karamjit Basi and Glyn Beale to secure a point in their quest for promotion.

In Division 1A, Queensbury beat Wrose Bull 3-1 via efforts from Mason brothers Ross and Steven and a strike from Lewis Forsythe, while leaders Station Hotel won 5-2 at Clayton Village Sports & Social, Paul Harrison (2), Chris Bentley, Sam Morton and James Sugden being the winners' marksmen.

Eccleshill Sunday and YMCC shared the goals in an eight-goal thriller in Division 1B, with Adam Jordan and substitute Thomas Boocock hitting a brace each for the home team.

Tyersal remain in pole position in Division 2A after a 7-1 victory over Thornton United Thirds at Arkwright Street, with Tyrone Pryce getting four for the winners.

George United were a goal behind against Delius in the first half but hit four second-half goals to come out on top to triumph 4-2 with a brace from Nicky Reynolds and one each from Ryan Murgatroyd and Joshua Armitage.

In Division 2B, Fairweather Green went top after beating Prospect Reserves 4-1, with Karl Ratcliffe hitting a double for the winners.
