BRADFORD Sunday Alliance League side Ventus United proved uncompromising hosts against Halifax Amateurs in the West Riding County FA Sunday Cup.

After a lively opening ten minutes, the home team broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal from the returning Allan Morley jnr – and the lead was doubled just before half-time when Billy Summers slid in to finish at the back post.

In the second half, Ventus took full control at Dam Lane as Morley bagged a second with a superb solo effort, Tommy Briggs adding a fortuitous fourth before Ash Maitlin rounded things off in a 5-0 romp.

Man of the match Nicholas Serjevas was outstanding for United, providing four assists from right back.

In an all-Alliance tie between YMCC, from Division 1B, and Premier Division outfit Oakenshaw, the top-flight team ran out 5-1 winners.

Oakey scored three first-half goals via James Garner (penalty), Josh Hans and Luke O'Brien and the latter player completed his hat-trick in the second half.

Another all-Alliance tie, between Wyke Rangers and Division One leaders Lyceum, proved a thriller as Lyceum edged it 4-3.

Thornton United were beaten 3-2 by Leeds side Showbiz Whites – but Thornton's reserve team went through after sharing four goals with Keighley Athletic and holding their nerve in the penalty shoot-out.

Division One side Swaine Green travelled to FC Pontefract and won 2-1, courtesy of a Simon McQuiston goal six minutes from the end, to book a tie at Colton.

Green fell behind to a 55th-minute penalty but levelled via an own goal before McQuiston finished from David Boot's through-ball.

There was also some Alliance League domestic action and, in the only Premier Division match played, Allerton won 2-1 in the last minute against Buttershaw Celtic, with Tom Yeadon rifling in a goal from the edge of the penalty area.

Allerton had gone in front in the first half through a Bobby Canning header but Celtic equalised with 20 minutes to go.

In Division 1A, Woodman Wanderers took the points at Great Horton. Shane Pogson and Daniel Stokes netted for the home team but a Daniel Doyle brace and a strike from George Duncan gave Woodman victory.

Beldon Oddies Reserves shared four goals and the points as they entertained Dog & Gun, with Andrew Boltwood and Paul Jackson getting on the scoresheet for the hosts.

In Division 2A, Titans Reserves beat visitors Turf 5-3, with Daniel Longley putting the home team 2-0 in front. Chris Godfrey pulled a goal back before Wayne Sparks made it 3-1.

Jordan Sargent's brace levelled matters at 3-3 before late goals by Sparks and Tim Sibanda wrapped up the points.

Bankfoot Lions hit eight past Clayton Village Sports & Social Reserves, including a brace each from Andy Finney and James and Liam Precious.
