WEST Bowling thumped a makeshift Thornton United side 14-1 to move three points clear at the top of the Premier Division and give their goal difference a massive boost with just two Bradford Sunday Alliance League games remaining.

Chris Wood was outstanding as he netted seven times to equal the top-flight record for goals in a match and had a hand in several others too.

Glyn Hirst grabbed a hat-trick with Andrew Kenyon (2), Andrew Gallagher and Jordon Lee Hagyard completing the tally.

With both Bowling and second-placed White Eagles, who are three points behind, playing on Thursday night, it looks like the title will go down to the wire when the two clubs meet next Sunday.

The Division One title race sees Allerton top and only Bradford Phoenix can now equal that points total, although it would need to be a massive victory with Allerton having a far superior goal difference.

Phoenix may have to settle for climbing above Swaine Green into the second promotion spot if they win their final match.

It is a similar position in Division 1A, with Thornton United Reserves currently leading the way after beating third-placed Queensbury 6-2 to end their promotion hopes.

But Eccleshill could pip Thornton at the post for the title when they play second-bottom Junction Wyke in the last match of the season, when any victory will do.

Division 1B, Lyceum sealed the title by defeating Green Grass United 7-0 as Aron Heywood struck a hat-trick. Graeme Sides added a brace, with Terry Ryan and Daljit Aujla also on target.

Division 2A was won at a canter by Oddfellows Celtic ahead of Steel Bangle Spartans after completing the campaign with a 100 per cent record, while Station Hotel topped Division 2B by eight points from second-placed YMCC.

Parry Lane topped Division 3A by two points ahead of Thornton United 3rds.
