THE entire programme of league and Bradford and district Sunday senior and Sunday cup matches was devastated by the heavy rain.

West Bowling’s FA Sunday cup tie was postponed on Saturday afternoon by Merseyside opponents Allerton FC, who called a local referee in to assess the pitch and thus save the Bradford side a trip to Liverpool.

The match has been rearranged for this Sunday again at Allerton with a 1pm kick-off, which means Bowling’s league match against Ventus United will have to be rearranged for a later date.

The league games that were played in were in division 1A was at Junction FC Wyke, where Junction moved up to fourth in the league after beating Clayton Village 4-2.

Wrose Bull FC find themselves only three points above the relegation positions after being beaten 6-3 at home by Heaton Athletic.

In division 2A, Aire Athletic reserves moved up into second position after thumping Bankfoot Lions 4-1.

In the Bradford and district senior Sunday cup, the all-Premier division clash between Bradford Moor and George Hotel produced ten goals as the visitors edged it 6-4.

The match between division 1A Thornton United seconds and division 1B Mill Lane finished in a 7-2 victory for the home team.

Mill Lane are the holders of the Bradford Supplementary league cup but Thornton’s second string were in no mood to respect reputations.

They were unfortunate to lose Tom Southgate after eight minutes but replacement Steve Wilkie and Josh Milner gave the home side a 2-0 interval lead.

In the second half, Thornton were once again on top but a rare breakaway from the visitors produced a superb save from underworked keeper Ryan Blyth.

Brad Asquith, who put in a man of the match performance, scored the third goal but the visitors hit back with a goal of their own.

Yet both Wilkie and Milner added their second goals and Andrew Benjamin scored another to make it 6-1 before an own goal by skipper Rob Hutchy gave the visitors another consolation.

But Milner completed his hat-trick to give the home side a comfortable passage into the next round with an away fixture to Premier division George Hotel.
