THERE is no early-season pacesetter in the Bradford Sunday Alliance League Premier Division, with only six points separating the top five.

West Bowling are second two points adrift but would have been breathing down the necks of leaders White Eagles were it not for an outstanding display by veteran Oakenshaw keeper Simon Sharp at Emsley's Recreation Ground.

Bowling had to wait until the 35th minute before opening their account with a vicious Joe Jagger free-kick from outside the box but Oakenshaw, who had hit the bar but been outplayed, equalised on the stroke of half-time via Josh Hans.

In the second half, which was more even, Bowling went ahead again when Aidan Day intercepted and squared the ball to Jagger, who scored his 12th goal of the season.

On 67 minutes, Hans bagged his second and Oakenshaw went in front from a Jack Hartley penalty after a foul committed by Bowling keeper Ashley Onitiri.

However, although Sharp made ten fine saves overall, he could not stop Chris Wood heading an equaliser from a Jagger corner.

Bolton Woods have struggled to get a team together so far this season but last weekend it was hosts White Eagles' turn to fret, three of their 11 having a combined age of 135!

Woods took the lead but Eagles equalised before half-time via a Steven Bargh deflected shot that went in off a post.

Eagles went in front in the second half with the first goal of Marcus Edwards' hat-trick but poor defending allowed Woods to make it 2-2.

Edwards completed his hat-trick via a penalty and a 20-yard pile-driver but Woods played their part in the 4-3 defeat with goals by Matthew Addy, George Buck and Patrick Mumbley.

Danny Carr, who only flew in from his honeymoon two hours before kick-off, was man of the match for Peel Park in their 3-0 victory at Ventus United.

Sean Jack and Allan Morley junior scored early on for Park and Adam Turner confirmed the win with a late goal.

In Division 1B, Grass Greener United and Lyceum, who are now fourth and third, drew 5-5, with Craig Wiseman's last-minute 30-yard screamer salvaging a point for United.

Wiseman, James Smail (penalty), Andy Howland and Hendrie Iwanczuk were also on target for United, while Mark Consterdine's brace for Mill Lane 2004 was not enough to salvage a draw at Great Northern, who won 5-3 in another top-of-the-table clash.

In contrast, Turf won their bottom-of-the-table clash 2-1 at Eccleshill Punjab in Division 2A, thanks to goals by Danny Ingleson and James Bolland, while Titans led Westleigh Wizards 2-1 via Mick Dougan and skipper Anthony Preston and had two goals disallowed before Wizards hit back to triumph 3-2.

In Division 2B, there were no worries for George United, who thrashed hosts Queensbury Rangers 8-0 with goals by Ryan Murgatroyd (4), Thom Jeffs (2), Steven Stansfield and Jordan Mortimer.
