MILL Lane 2004 had to be patient before sealing their Bradford Sunday Alliance League double.

The Division 2A champions were foiled time and again by Beldon Sports goalkeeper Luke Heinemann in the Intermediate Cup final at Manningham Mills before scoring in the 79th and 86th minutes to clinch more silverware with a 2-0 win.

After an impeccably observed minute's silence in honour of the Bradford City fire disaster victims, Division 1B strugglers Beldon Sports – probably Bradford's oldest Sunday football club as they were formed in 1962 – had Heinemann to thank as early as the fifth minute.

Mill Lane, who still had nine players in their squad from their year of formation 11 years ago, did not have things all their own way but in general Heinemann was the difference between the teams in the first half.

Both teams had chances after the interval but, with extra time looking increasingly likely, Steve Hollingworth and half-time substitute Danny Harrison netted for Mill Lane.

Meanwhile, league action saw Oakenshaw crowned Division One champions after a 5-1 victory over Bradford Horton Sports.

They pinched the title from White Eagles with goals from Andrew Atkinson (2), Joshua Hans, Christopher Holdsworth and Luke O'Brien.

However, White Eagles will still be promoted alongside Oakenshaw and both should enhance the top flight.

Second-bottom Cuedos Rangers ended a run of 13 matches without a victory by winning 4-3 at basement boys Red Lion. Dave Gidsmith bagged a hat-trick, with Danny Lolla's decider coming as late as the 102nd minute.

With the Premier Division title won and a Bradford & District FA Sunday Cup final against West Bowling at Eccleshill United tonight (7.00), Thornton United took their foot off the gas and were hammered 11-1 by Sandy Lane, while runners-up Bowling defeated Bolton Woods 6-1.

Bowling's goals came from Nick Cowling (2) and Cameron Nelson in the first half and Jordon Lee Hagyard, Chris Wood and Paul Jackson, thanks to a superb free-kick, in the second.

Division 2B leaders Lyceum, who are only ahead of Thornton United Reserves on goal difference, thumped third-placed Eccleshill 13-1.

The top two meet at Thornton Recreation Centre on Sunday to settle the destination of the championship.
