WEST Bowling are out of the WEST RIDING COUNTY FA SUNDAY CUP.

However, they really should be in the hat for the semi-finals after the hosts missed a glut of opportunities in the first half of normal time against visitors Belle Isle WMC.

The only goals were two by the Leeds side in the first period of extra-time.

The only tie not played was the quarter-final between West Bowling's fellow Bradford Sunday Alliance League side Oakenshaw and holders HT Sports.

The Avenue Road pitch was unplayable, and they will try again this weekend.

The only Alliance survivors in the WEST RIDING COUNTY FA SUNDAY TROPHY were Division 3B leaders Steel Bangle Spartans, who were involved in a 19-goal bonanza against Wellington Westgate. Unfortunately, only five of them ended up in the Westgate net.

If Oakenshaw are flying the Division One flag at county level, semi-finalists White Eagles are doing likewise in the League's GOALS SENIOR CUP, and relegation-threatened Cuedos Rangers almost belied their form to join them in the last four, only going down 1-0 at Premier Division leaders Stanningley Albion.

The latter now play Thornton United, who sounded a warning to the rest of the PREMIER DIVISION and kept up the pressure on league leaders Albion by moving into third after a 9-0 thrashing of next-to-bottom Napoleons Casino.

Dan Cunningham gave a man-of-the-match performance with four goals, Deroy White and Dave Wilson both bagging braces, with Danny Walker also getting on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Buttershaw Celtic put more distance between themselves and the bottom two with a 4-3 victory over cellar-dwellers Bradford Moor.

White Eagles' match at Bradford Horton Sports was switched from vandal-damaged Myra Shay to Peel Park, and Eagles won the first match they have played in two months 5-2, leapfrogging Swaine Green into third after the latter lost 3-2 at Wyke Rangers.

The Peel Park pitch was still frozen in places but it was Eagles who were caught cold as Sports scored from the kick-off without a visitor touching the ball.

However, new signing Curtis McMahon levelled and, a minute later, Mark Betts' lovely finish made it 2-1. Craig Smith and Levi Maturine extending the score in the second half.

Although Sports made it 4-2, Maturine finished the 'home' side off to give Eagles a boost before their Bradford & District FA Cup semi-final against Thornton United on Thursday at Allerton Academy (6.15).

In the top DIVISION 1A encounter, Cartwright Lister and Oddfellows Celtic drew 2-2, but Undercliffe Cricket Club are still undefeated as they beat District Cup holders Salthorn WMC 5-2.

Sporting Pudsey drew 0-0 with Apperley Bridge in DIVISION 1B, while in DIVISION 2B oitfit Turf fought back from 2-0 down to earn a point at Junction Wyke, James Bolland scoring twice for the visitors, whose keeper Louis Colman superbly saved a retaken penalty that would have put them 3-0 behind.

Unbeaten Mill Lane 2004 beat Bankfoot Lions 9-0, with Steve Hollingworth following up his five goals on Saturday for Campion with six for Lane, taking his seasonal tally to 40 in all competitions. Paul Hague added a brace for Lane.
