ALBION Sports boss Kulwinder Sandhu is delighted to have signed Jordan Hendrie and confirmed that the player made his debut more than a week ago.

The club announced the signing of Hendrie, the son of former Bradford City favourite John, on November 4 – the day they played Pontefract Collieries in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division.

But they did not confirm that he would be in the squad that Wednesday night.

Sandhu said: “Jordan signed and was registered with the league in time so he did play that night and helped us to the win.

“He was looking forward to playing again on the Saturday but that game was off because of a waterlogged pitch. That wasn’t surprising really because there were a lot of games off that day after the rain.

“Jordan will be a good signing for us. He’s a very good player and has a good pedigree which is no surprise given his background.”

Hendrie was with the Manchester United Academy for several years and more recently has been with Mark Ellis’ RIASA programme.

Albion’s press spokesman Pete Cusack revealed that there were some spectators at the Pontefract game that had travelled a long way to catch the game at Throstle Nest.

Cusack said: “There were six ground-hoppers there who had flown in from Norway to watch the game.

“I spoke to the lad who had organised it and he said he comes over to England on a regular basis and has been to 178 different grounds, he can tick Throstle Nest off his list now.

“He brought five mates with him and they had a good time and enjoyed the game. It was worth the journey as they got seven goals out of it which is typical of us at the moment. We’re certainly entertaining.”

Albion beat Ponte 4-3 but last Wednesday they were beaten 5-2 at home by Pickering Town.

Those results followed a 4-4 draw at Tadcaster Albion and a 7-0 West Riding County Cup defeat to Bradford Park Avenue.
